Geriatric Education for EMS Advanced Course

NAEMT’s Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS) Advanced Course builds on the GEMS core course, delving into more complex, realistic scenarios and the unique technology EMS practitioners are likely to encounter when assessing, treating, and transporting older adults.

 

Topics in the GEMS Advanced Course including caring for and transporting patients on home ventilators, LVADs (left ventricular assist devices), tracheostomies, PICC lines/invasive lines, and feeding tubes.  This is facilitated through a series of scenarios involving increasingly complex symptoms and situations.

 

GEMS Advanced course is one day, held on Thursday, October 19th from 0900-1500.

Previous participation in the GEMS Core Provider course is required to enroll in the GEMS Advanced course.

 

There is a workbook, required for the course, which is available for purchase for $15.
