Employment Opportunities

Mobile Life Support Services offers a number of opportunities for those who are interested and qualified to work in the EMS field.

Some of the staff positions that we offer are:

Emergency Medical Technician
The EMT level is the minimum required staffing level for all NYS Certified Ambulances.  The EMT is trained in all basic life support (BLS) level skills, including Defibrillation and limited medication administration.  The EMT follows the written NYS BLS Protocols.

Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate
At this level a NYS Certified EMT has completed certification in two Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills, Endotracheal Intubation and Intravenous Infusion Therapy.  The EMT-I is considered an ALS provider and follows the written medical treatment protocols of the Hudson Valley Regional EMS Council (HVREMSCO).  The EMT-I must provide care in an ALS system in concert with a NYS Paramedic.

Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care
An EMT-CC has completed additional ALS training and certification that covers the skills previously mentioned, as well as EKG interpretation, medication administration, and additional assessment skills.  Although they follow a more expansive written HVREMSCO Protocol than the EMT-I, they must also provide care in concert with a Paramedic.

Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
This is the highest certified level of EMS provider in NYS.  Certification at this level includes additional ALS assessment, skills, and knowledge base.  The EMT-P follows the written ALS protocols of the HVREMSCO,  and has a broad range of standing orders that may be implemented prior to establishing contact with a Medical Control Physician.

*Note:  The EMT-I, EMT-CC, and the EMT-P are all NYS Certified, but must successfully complete the credentialing requirements of the HVREMSCO.  These providers must maintain that regional credentialing on a yearly basis through certain educational requirements in order to continue to provide care at their respective level.  All EMS providers, regardless of level, must also recertify their NYS Certification every three years.

Call Takers

Call Takers are assigned to the Emergency Communication Center, and are trained to take both Emergency and Non-emergency call information. Working along side of the EMS Dispatcher, the Communication Center staff also provides pre-arrival first aid instruction to the callers utilizing a nationally developed program of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).

Emergency Medical Technician - Dispatcher
Emergency Dispatchers are trained to assess system requirements and demands, and to respond by dispatching and re-positioning the most appropriate resources required. They are cross-trained to provide EMD instructions to any caller when necessary, and are well versed in understanding the additional emergency services and resources available throughout our service area.

Medical Billing Staff
Our Medical Billing Staff are trained in areas such as: medical documentation, medical condition coding, electronic claims preparation and submission, HIPAA regulations, and customer service.

EMS Instructors
We operate a full-service Training Division responsible for both EMS professional education programming and training programs for the general public. Most of the Instructors credentialed in various educational and instructional disciplines are employed on a part-time basis.
