Special Operations Response Team (SORT)
All credentialed staff are eligible to qualify for additional SORT training and placement on the active SORT Team. Team members are issued personal pagers and are available for emergency recall. SORT unit activations normally occur for MCI or coverage for unusual incidents and special events.

Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS)
Mobile Life Support Services has recently assembled and trained a small TEMS Team of Paramedics that work with designated law enforcement agencies throughout our operations area. The Team provides primary medical support for Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Teams and Special Entry Teams, and is equipped with specialized equipment to support that mission.

LifeGuard-17
Since 1994 Mobile Life Support Services has teamed up with the New York State Police Aviation Division to staff their helicopter at Stewart International Airport.

This medevac unit is designated as LifeGuard-17 and is the busiest of the five Lifeguard programs in New York State. Specially trained Flight Paramedics staff the medevac at the airport and are available for immediate response throughout the Hudson Valley.

In addition to on scene medevac Missions, LifeGuard is equipped to handle air rescue missions as well using its hoist and on-board rescue Basket. This device known as the Billy Pugh, allows the helicopter to extricate victims from areas where the helicopter cannot land.

Emergency Communications Center
Mobile Life Support Services operates its own Emergency Communications Center staffed by EMT-Dispatchers and Call takers Certified in Emergency Medical Dispatching.

Using the Medical Priority Dispatch format, Dispatchers are able to give emergency callers pre-arrival Instructions to aid the sick or injured party until help arrives.

Our Communications Center is part of the Enhanced-911 system in Orange County, functioning as a fully integrated secondary public service answering point (PSAP). Our Communication Center is linked to the other Counties we serve via landline and UHF/VHF radio Frequencies.

Our Communication Center handles over 48,000 requests for service each year.

HAZMAT
Mobile Life Support Services is part of the HAZMAT Response teams in the Counties of Orange and Ulster.

We provide on-scene medical monitoring for teams members, and evacuation of decontaminated casualties. Representatives from our service are active participants in local planning committees and assist in training and drills with individual teams

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
MLSS has a number of staff members trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) that are volunteers with the Horizons Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

This Team is available to assist any emergency service organization in our region that has experienced a critical incident that significantly impacts their staff. This multidisciplinary team has provided both on scene support and subsequent debriefing sessions for many agencies in their time of need.
